Disparition

Mon intuition

Le modèle, pourtant au centre de l'œuvre picturale, me semble devenir invisible par et à cause d'elle, n'être pas beaucoup plus visible que le papier ou la toile qui porte l'œuvre, l'encre ou la peinture qui la trace.

Quand l'œuvre est exposée / et plus encore si elle est exposée sur les lieux qu'elle représente / le modèle semble encore plus absent: le décor est là, le modèle est parti.

Et pour certains artistes, le modèle ne semble être qu'un objet (plutôt qu'un sujet), presque une chose: le corps est là, mais la personne est absente.

Disappearance

An intuition

While the model is at the centre of the visual artwork, it becomes invisible with it; it remains not much more visible than the paper or linen carrying the artwork, the ink or paint tracing it.

When the artwork is shown / and more when it’s on the place that is represented / the model looks much more absent: the landscape is there, the model has gone.

And for some artists, the model is apparently just an object (and not a subject), almost a thing: the body is there, but the person is absent.

And you?
